The AN/ALQ-117 is a tail-mounted noise/deception jamming system that was developed to provide protection for the U.S. Air Force B-52 bomber against radar-directed missiles and guns. The system is installed in pairs, in an extension of the aircraft tail.

status

An improvement program of the ALQ-117 began in 1981. The system is being modified to the ALQ-117 Pave Mint configuration that has improved line-replaceable units and threat capability.
