The ARC-51 series of UHF radio communication transmitters and receivers are designed primarily for installation in aircraft, but have also been adapted for ground-based or vehicular operation. The radios are housed in a pressurized container, which permits installation in unpressurized bays and ope ration at altitudes up to 70,000 ft (21,336 m) with proper cooling.
