The Altair was a multimode fire-control radar under development in Italy for possible use in the Italian navy's proposed purchase of AV-8B Harrier II vertical/short takeoff and landing (VSTOL) aircraft. The Altair was intended to be a lightweight system that combined elements of the FIAR Grifo radar with those of the Westinghouse AN/APG-66 .
