The CBU-87/B combined effects munition (CEM) is used to attack soft targets with the BLU-97/B combined effects bomb (CEB). The weapon consists of a SW-65 tactical munitions dispenser (TMD) or SUU-65B canister, 202 BLU-97/B CEBs and an optional FZU-39 proximity fuze.

Effective against materiel, personnel and armor, the BLU-97/B CEB has a scored steel casing for increased fragmentation effects around a 70/30 mix of Cyclotrol and zirconium. The zirconium is placed in a ring, giving...
