The AGM-62 Walleye glide bomb was one of the first "smart bombs" to enter U.S. service. It was developed to take advantage of then-new TV guidance technology that would yield the accuracy of a guided weapon without requiring the launch aircraft to fly toward the target until the bomb's impact.
The missile is a tapered cylinder with an ogival nose and glass window with cruciform long-chord, cropped delta wings on the afterbody and full-span control surfaces on the trailing edge.
