The U.S. BGM-71 TOW (tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided) weapon is the most widely distributed anti-tank guided missile in the world. It is fired from tripods, ground combat vehicles and helicopters.
It was developed as a replacement for the 106-mm recoilless rifle and SS-11 missiles.
The BGM-71 missile has four flip-out rectangular raked-tip wings at mid-body and four flip-out rectangular moving control fins at the rear.
