The ASROC (an acronym for anti-submarine rocket) is a ship-launched, ballistic anti-submarine warfare (ASW) weapons. It was the principal anti-submarine weapon for U.S. Navy cruisers, destroyers and frigates built or modernized in the 1960s and 1970s. The ASROC booster can be fitted with a conventi onal Mk 44/Mk 46 homing torpedo or a nuclear depth bomb.
The rocket can be fired by the Mk 16 eight-cell box launcher or the Mk 10 or Mk 26 surface-to-air missile (SAM) launchers. Ships...
