The Italian Sea Killer series of anti-ship missiles began development in the mid-1960s. The Mk 1 Nettuno was a beam rider with a small, 77-lb (35-kg) warhead and a single solid-propellant rocket. It was superseded by the Mk 2 Volcano, which was the main production variant.
