The CSS-C-8 Saccade is a land-attack and anti-ship cruise missile developed from the CSS-N-4 Sardine (see separate record). It replaces the solid-rocket engine of the CSS-N-4 Sardine with a small turbojet engine for greater range.
It is designated the Ying Ji-2 (Hawk Attack-2) in Chinese service and the C-802 for export. The C-802A designates the ground- or ship-launched variant; C-802Q, the submarine-launched version; and C-802K, the air-launched missile.
