The Martel was an air-to-surface missile jointly developed by British Aerospace and Matra SA of France. Matra and Electronique Serge Dassault (ESD) produced the anti-radar AS 37. British Aerospace and GEC Avionics developed a TV-guided variant (see "Variants," below).
The Martel name was derived from its guidance options -- missile, anti-radiation and television.
