The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system is the primary project of the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Terminal Defense Segment (TDS) of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). THAAD represents a land-based upper tier TMD system, and will engage short-, medium- and long-range theater ballistic missiles. THAAD's ability to intercept missiles at long range and high altitude (endo- and exo-atmospheric) should give U.S. forces the best chance to shoot down incoming missiles...
