The SIMBAD (system integer de Mistral bimunition pour l'auto defense) is a modified 20-mm pedestal mount fitted with two Mistral anti-aircraft missiles and a simple optical sight.
MBDA has also developed a remotely operated variant (see "Variants" below). The system provides short-range defense against hostile fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, as well as anti-ship missiles.
