The Israeli Barak is a vertical-launch, point-defense missile system designed to counter enemy aircraft, uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missiles from both shipboard and land-based sites. It has been fielded with several armed services.
The Barak 8 is a longer-range version for both sea and land use developed under a joint Israeli-Indian development effort begun in 2006. There are several versions (see "Variants," below). The missile uses active radar homing.
