The Interactive Defense and Attack System for Submarines (IDAS) is a missile program designed to develop a submarine-based anti-aircraft capability. The missile can also be used to attack small ships that do not merit the use of a heavyweight torpedo and coastal land targets.
The missile was initially designed for Germany's U-31-class (Type 212) submarines.
