The M7A1 is a light type mine weighing about five pounds. A light anti-tank mine requires a pressure of 140 to 240 pounds to initiate the fuze.

The light anti-tank mine is intended to be used against light tanks or vehicles. A group of two or more light mines can be used against heavy tanks.

The M7 series of mines use TNT as the filler. High-explosive mines are painted olive drab with markings in yellow. The M7 mines use a mechanical pressure type fuze M603 and booster M120....
