As with all anti-tank mines, the M15 is a blast mine designed to destroy an armored vehicle's tracks. When a more thinly skinned vehicle is the target, it can also destroy much of the body.
The mine is housed in a circular steel casing containing a main-charge of Composition B, which is a mixture of TNT and cyclotrimethylene trinitramine (RDX).
