The Sherpa is a family of tactical vehicles similar to the U.S. Humvee. There are 4 x 4 and 6 x 6 variants capable of performing a variety of battlefield tasks. See "Variants," below, for specifics on each vehicle.

The French Gendarmerie has selected the Sherpa 3A Grand Volume (GV) variants to replace aging VXB-170 armored personnel carriers. A total of 92 Sherpa 3As will be procured, fitted with a fully armored body that extends to the rear.
