The Pionierpanzer 1 armored engineer vehicle (AEV) was based on the Leopard 1 main battle tank (MBT) chassis. It was designed for earth-moving operations, creation and removal of obstacles, drilling holes for demolition charges, foxholes, foundations and recovery operations.
