The Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) started as a joint U.S. Army/Marine Corps "remanufacture" program in 1993 aimed at upgrading the aging fleet of M809 and M939 medium tactical trucks. After an initial series of tests, the notion of remanufacture was abandoned, as was Army funding of any other program for the moment.
