The M992 FAASV (field artillery ammunition support vehicle) is a resupply vehicle based on the chassis of the M109 self-propelled howitzer. The turret of the M109 was replaced with a covered superstructure protected by 32 mm of aluminum armor and redesigned to hold ammunition storage racks and a power-operated conveyor belt.
