The M88 is a U.S. medium armored recovery vehicle (ARV) based on the M60 main battle tank (MBT). It is capable of recovering and evacuating all U.S. armored vehicles except for some models of the M60 and the M1 Abrams MBT. Two M88A1s are needed to tow an M1 tank.
