The M1074 Joint Assault Bridge (JAB) was developed to replace U.S. Army and Marine Corps armored vehicle-launching bridges (AVLB). The new systems use surplus M1A1 Abrams tank chassis fitted with hydraulic bridge-launch equipment to transport and launch an MLC 85 scissors bridge over the front of the hull.
