The Dachs (Badger) armored engineering vehicle (AEV) -- also known as the Pionierpanzer 2 -- is a modified version of two similar German vehicles (the Pionierpanzer 1 AEV and the Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicle, or ARV).

The Dachs has an excavator arm substituted for the crane fitted to the earlier vehicles, a larger dozer blade, improved capstan winch, added bilge pumps and other improvements.
