The Rooikat (Lynx) is an 8 x 8 armored combat reconnaissance vehicle designed for long-range, high-mobility missions.

The Rooikat was designed to replace the 4 x 4 Eland, which was a license-produced version of the French AML. (Operational Elands have since been scrapped; some vintage vehicles were offered for sale in 2004; a few wound up in museums.)
