The Israeli-produced RBY Mk 1 is an open-topped, 4 x 4 armored reconnaissance vehicle. It is capable of other roles, such as long-range patrol, commando, internal security and battlefield medical evacuation.

The hull has 8-mm thick armor steel (MIL-A-46100) sides. The floor has 10-mm thick plain carbon steel (SAE-1020). The hull is shaped to maximize protection against mines.
