The Italian Oto Melara R2.5 Gorgona, a 4 x 4 armored reconnaissance vehicle, was one of the lightest combat vehicles in service. It resembled a four-door, rear-engine sedan but had 15-mm armor, 38-mm thick bulletproof glazing and run-flat tires. The Gorgona was amphibious.
The police version was unarmed but the roof could accommodate remotely fired 7.62-mm or 12.7-mm machine-gun mounts or a shield for a gunner.
