The AMX-10RC was developed in the early 1970s to replace the aging EBR 75 as the French army's standard reconnaissance vehicle. It entered service in fewer numbers than originally planned. It is a large 6 x 6 wheeled vehicle, which shares many of its automotive components with the AMX-10P tracked a rmored personnel carrier. The vehicle is skid-steered, and uses the system originally developed for AMX-10P.
