The German/Swiss Gepard air defense vehicle, based on the German Leopard 1 tank, is fitted with a turret bearing two Swiss Oerlikon 35-mm KDA automatic cannon, search and tracking radar and fire-control equipment.

The Gepard hull, constructed from all-welded steel, is slightly longer than the Leopard 1 and has thinner armor. The bulky turret is pyramidal in frontal cross-section with the two cannons fitted on external trunnions that flank the crew and systems compartment.
