The Blitzer railgun is a prototype built by General Atomics (GA) for ground and naval air defense missions. The program's objectives are to validate the test launcher and pulse-power capability and ensure the technology is sound. The program is funded privately by GA. Blitzer is currently a single-shot system, but could be modified to fire multiple rounds using existing autoloader technology.
