The Avenger air defense system, designated AN/TWQ-1, is used by the U.S. Army as a main component in the forward area air defense system (FAADS). It consists of a one-man, electrically driven, gyro-stabilized turret with a digital fire-control processor mounted on an M1097A1 High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV).
