The M51 75-mm anti-aircraft gun is towed on a four-wheel carriage, whose axles and wheels are removed to bring the weapon into firing position. When firing, the weapon is supported by four outriggers, and target acquisition is aided by the M4 tracking radar that is positioned on the left side of the gun.
The M51 fires a high-explosive (HE) projectile and feeding is manual to two revolver-type magazines.
