The Al Fao was a 6 x 6 210-mm self-propelled gun (SPG) that had the same chassis design as the Majnoon 155-mm SP howitzer. However, the Al Fao carried the largest-caliber gun of any towed or self-propelled gun or howitzer. Only the Russian 2S4 self-propelled mortar has a greater bore.
The articulated vehicle is divided into two units that are joined by a pivot at the top of the hull between the powerplant and the turret. Movement is lateral only and is limited by the drive shaft...
