The Kryl is a prototype 155-mm/52-caliber self-propelled howitzer based on the Israeli ATMOS 2000 gun system and modified for Polish requirements. The Kryl is more than a ton lighter than its Israeli predecessor. The system is being developed by Polish firm Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) with funding from Poland's National Research and Development Center.
HSW elected to work with Israel's Elbit Systems on the project in order to reduce the time needed for research and development.
