The British Mk 8 4.5-in (114-mm) dual-purpose weapon has the same caliber as earlier British naval guns, but is based on the 105-mm gun used in the land-based Abbot self-propelled gun (see separate record). It is the main gun armament on all recent British destroyer and frigate classes and has been mounted in several non-British ship classes.
