The 35-mm Millennium Gun is the result of a joint effort by Lockheed Martin and Oerlikon to develop a rapid-fire weapon for multi-mission close-in use. It is designed to engage fast-attack surface craft and near-shore land targets in littoral and riverine waters. It is also designed to defend again st anti-ship missiles and aircraft.

As a close-in weapon system (CIWS), the Millennium Gun extends the ship's defensive capability to a range greater than any other current CIWS system....
