French Compact Mk 1 naval gun

The French 100-mm Compact gun is a dual-purpose, single-barrel weapon. It is almost 25 percent lighter than the 100-mm Model 1968 gun from which it is derived. In addition to being lighter, the 100-mm Compact has a higher rate of fire and faster elevation and traverse.

The 100-mm Compact is water-cooled; air is injected into the barrel after each round is fired to vent propellant fumes. Both features contribute to longer barrel life.
