The Breda 40-mm Compact twin anti-aircraft naval gun mount is fitted in Italian ships as part of the Dardo close-in weapon system (CIWS). It is the standard secondary armament on many Italian navy ships and has been widely exported. The weapon is based on the Bofors 40-mm/L70 gun and was produced under license beginning with the Type 64 open mount in 1969.
The Breda Compact has a domed fiberglass mount with two closely spaced 40-mm guns. The mount has circular doors on each side....
