The EK-12 Ivolga (Oriole) is an ekranoplan capable of all-weather operation. Currently under development, the EK-12 was designed a group of engineers headed by Vyacheslav Kolganov to be able to conduct a variety of missions, including transport, search-and-rescue and border-control. It is designed to fly in ground effect.

Such platforms combine some characteristics of airplanes and hovercraft.
