The IAR-823 was a Romanian-made civil aircraft that was adapted for use as a basic flight trainer.
Strongly resembling the U.S. general aviation Mooney aircraft, the IAR823 had an unremarkable configuration, featuring slightly upward-canted straight wings, a nose-mounted piston engine, single tailfin-and-rudder with tailplanes set at the base, and a cabin with two seats and optional three-place rear bench. The aircraft had retractable tricycle landing gear.
