The FanWing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flies with the use of integral lift and thrust with a horizontal-axis wing rotor. Conceived by Patrick Peebles in the late 1990s, the aircraft features a cross-flow fan housed in a cylinder laid along the leading edge of the one-piece wing, perpendicular to the line of flight.
