The Miniature Air-Launched Decoy (MALD) program was launched in 1996 by the Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop and demonstrate a small, inexpensive air-launched decoy system for suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD).
