US-2 Rainbow STOL SAR aircraft

The US-2 is an amphibious short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft designed for search-and-rescue missions with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). The aircraft is based on the older US-1, which it replaced in JMSDF service.

The amphibious aircraft is capable of a variety of missions, including surveillance, medical evacuation, maritime security, search-and-rescue and firefighting. For firefighting missions, the US-2 can scoop up 15 tons of water in 20 seconds.
