The UH-2 (previously the UH-X) is a program to develop a new multirole helicopter for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces (GSDF). The helicopter is based on the U.S. Bell 412EPI twin-engine aircraft as part of an effort to reduce costs. The UH-X will replace Japan's aging UH-1J helicopters and used primarily for transport and cargo missions.
