The NH90 medium helicopter program was developed by a four-nation consortium to provide an aircraft that can operate as an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopter for frigate-size ships (NATO Frigate Helicopter or NFH) and as a tactical aircraft (Tactical Transport Helicopter or TTH) capable of carrying more than 20 troops or small vehicles.
