The CH-53A/D is a heavy-lift helicopter in wide military use. Developed specifically for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, the CH-53A/D is employed for assault, vertical replenishment and mine countermeasures (MCM) operations. Forty-four CH/HH-53B/C have been modified for special operations and are known as MH-53J Pave Low IIIs.
