The KF-X is a South Korean program to develop an indigenous fighter to replace aging F-4 and F-5 aircraft. Plans call for an initial procurement of 120 of the jets. The KF-X could also eventually replace South Korea's KF-16 fighters, leading to a total fleet of around 250 aircraft. Indonesia is also participating in the program, and plans to buy at least 50 fighters.
