The VC-25B is a derivative of the commercial 747-8i passenger aircraft modified for use as the official transport for the President of the United States. The aircraft will replace the 747-200-based VC-25As, which have been in service since the early 1990s.

The 747-8 is 250 ft 2 in (76.3 m) long, and 63 ft 6 in (19.4 m) high. The aircraft has a wingspan of 224 ft 5 in (68.4 m).
