The aircraft is a low-wing cantilever monoplane with a composite structure. It is powered by two wing-mounted turbofan engines.

The MC-21 series consists of two medium-range transport aircraft, the MC-21-300 and the shorter MC-21-200 variant (see "Variants," below fore more information).
