The C-295 is a larger, more powerful version of the CN-235 light transport. It was launched in 1999 with a nine-aircraft order for the Spanish air force.

The wing is taken directly from that of the CN-235, with a strengthened structure to carry the C-295's increased operating weight being the principal change.
