The A400M Atlas airlifter (formerly known as the Future Large Aircraft) is a military transport designed to provide high logistic efficiency while meeting the demands of tactical operations. It was designed by a subsidiary of Airbus Industrie, which coordinates the efforts of companies from Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Spain and Turkey. The A400M fills a unique niche in the military transport market, being about twice the size of the C-130J and half the size of the C-17.
